Metal Trades Jobs Line
This is a service of the Metal Trades Department for union members in metal trades occupations.
Electricians are needed in Pascagoula and New Orleans. The composite mechanics are needed in Gulfport, MS. The other positions are all needed in New Orleans.

Pipefitter: Fabricate and install piping systems on units in assembly and complete systems on vessels including testing on finished vessels. Plan and layout work from blueprints, drawings or other written specifications using a variety of metal such as copper, brass, copper nickel and titanium.
Marine Electrician: Install and hookup electrical cable and wiring systems for ship's power, light, communications, and control circuits, following blueprints and wiring diagrams. Connect electrical cables to terminals, such as connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators and switch panels. Connect power supply circuits to radio, radar, fire control and other electronic equipment.
Sheetmetal Mechanic: Fabricate and install a variety of sheetmetal such as ductwork, venting system, main engine exhaust, metal containers and instrumentation panels. Plan and layout work from blueprints, drawings, and other specifications using shop mathematics. Set up and operate a variety of sheetmetal machines such as shears and brakes.
Pipewelder: Weld a variety of metals of different shapes and sizes in vertical, horizontal, flat and overhead positions. Pipewelders utilize the special welding process applications SMAW, FCAW and GTAW to weld carbon steel, copper nickel and titanium.
Composite Mechanic: Must have a basic understanding of the different types of composites, their construction, operation and function with emphasis on the VARTM manufacturing process. Must have the required skills to complete composite parts, assembled on different types and shapes of molds, using the VARTM process. Responsible for reading and interpreting engineering documents and applying the information to the fabrication and assembly of the many different composite parts for shipboard applications.
Wages:
- Pascagoula - up to $18.42 per hour
- New Orleans - $17.86 per hour

Working 4 10-hour days
